History of Arboplus
Arboplus was born in 2012 from a shared vision between Michaël, newly graduated in arboriculture, and Nicolas. Michaël wanted to build a company that reflected his values: caring for trees while securing the urban environment.
During an informal conversation, Michaël shared his entrepreneurial dream with Nicolas — a company that would treat every person with respect and elevate the profession of arborist. The name “Arboplus” emerged naturally, and the idea took root.
Drawing on his entrepreneurial experience, Nicolas became Michaël’s mentor. In April 2013, they officially launched Arboplus, combining an innovative management system with a strong commitment to customer service excellence.
As demand grew, Dominic joined as a shareholder. The trio — a “threefold cord” — built their leadership on shared values and mutual trust. This solid foundation propelled the company into remarkable growth.
The founders’ ambition remains unchanged: to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives and to position Arboplus as a transformative force within the urban forest. With that vision in mind, Michaël, Nicolas, and Dominic anchored Arboplus’ identity in three foundational principles: creation, stewardship, and reconciliation.
“Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor.
If either of them falls,
one can help the other up…
A cord of three strands
is not quickly broken.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9,12
Regional Winner in Laval – Quebec Entrepreneurship Competition
These values guided every stage of the company’s development from the very beginning. In January 2013, Arboplus reached a major milestone by establishing its official structure: business plan preparation, administrative framework, and equipment acquisition. In April, the company was officially registered and soon after won the Special Laval Award at the Quebec Entrepreneurship Competition. In July, following a major storm that caused widespread tree damage, Arboplus presented its vision on LCN television.
In 2014, Arboplus was named Regional Winner in Laval at the Quebec Entrepreneurship Competition.
Finalist – Dunamis Awards
In 2015, Arboplus was honored as a finalist at the Dunamis Awards. That same year marked the launch of the first French-language arboriculture magazine, “Stewardship of Creation.”
In 2016, seeking to cultivate a strong team culture, Arboplus organized its first annual retreat at Camp Péniel, combining rest, team-building activities, and professional training. Stump grinding services were officially added to the company’s expertise, and a second team of expert arborists was created to meet growing demand.
Creation of the Quebec Arboricultural Network
In 2017, Arboplus established a Quebec-based arboricultural partner network — a major achievement — followed by its first acquisition of a small company. That same year, Arboplus was again named a finalist at the Dunamis Gala hosted by the Laval Chamber of Commerce.
“Company of the Year” – 2018 Stellar Gala
In 2018, several key developments marked another pivotal year: the launch of a franchised cedar hedge team, the acquisition of Héritage Service d’Arbre, and the “Company of the Year” award at the 2018 Stellar Gala hosted by the Thérèse-De Blainville Chamber of Commerce. Arboplus also published its first children’s book, “Tree Alphabet from A to Z,” and officially registered its logo as a trademark.
Regional Winner in Laval – “Prix Réussite Inc.”
The “Prix Réussite Inc.” recognizes the exceptional journey of entrepreneurs and their companies following participation in the Défi OSEntreprendre (formerly the Quebec Entrepreneurship Competition). Arboplus was honored for its sustained growth and entrepreneurial impact.
